Press L1 or R1 at the character selection screen. The red sign will change to blue. If you press L1 again you will get green. If you press Circle on either blue or green, you will get different costumes.

Code notes:
The twelve symbols is the old Chinese way to tell the time. Each symbol is two hours in 24 hour clock time. In terms of the Chinese zodiac, it is also an alternate representation of the Chinese Zodiac used for fortune telling. The first symbol represent a Rat year in Chinese Zodiac, and the time would be 1 to 3 a.m. The second is an Ox, and time would be 3 to 5 a.m., etc.

Unlock Haku:
Defeat Haku with Uchiha Sasuke in Story mode mission 4.

Unlock Hatake Kakashi (ANBU):
After finishing Story mode mission 4.

Unlock Hoshigake Kisame:
After finishing Story mode mission 4.

Unlock Hyuuga Hinata (Successor):
Complete all four arcs in Story mode, then speak with Hyuuga Hiashi outside the arena. Then, speak with Hyuuga at the rooftop. Next, speak with Hinata at the training grounds. Go to the arena and defeat Neji.

Unlock Jiraiya:
Defeat Jiraiya with Uzumaki Naruto in Story mode mission 1.

Unlock Momochi Zabuza:

After finishing the indicated task you will find the corresponding scroll.

Chuunin Exam Stadium: Go forward and back down the hole three times.

Forest Of Death: Hit the fish that jumps up sometimes in the river three times when it jumps.

Hero's Memorial Stone: Hit your opponent's support character four times.

Hokage's Face: Jump on the tree in the background ten times.

Ichiraku Ramen: Make all the lanterns red.

Kazekage's Place: Get three recovery items from the vending machine in the foreground.

Kikyoujyou: Stay on the tail of the fish for at least two counts when the wind is blowing.

Konoha Forest: By destroying five trees in the foreground and background.

Konoha Hot Springs: Half destroy the wall and the stand on both sides (foreground and background).

Naruto Bridge: Remain standing on the boat for five counts.

Outer Tanzaku Gai: Attack the snake five times.

Sand Stage: By destroying five of the things that are whirling in the tornado.
