The easiest way to get a Grandmaster ranking for a particular level is to avoid detection and perform as many instant kills as possible.
Getting Special Moves
By getting the required amount of one-hit kills (enemy not aware) in a particular mission you will unlock new offensive and defensive techniques, combos, and special abilities.

Resetting the camera angle
When you are ganged up against and the camera angle doesn't allow you to see all your enemies, you can push R1 to reset the camera angle.
Unlock Chibot in multi-player mode
Finish level 6 as Rikimaru or Ayame.
Unlock Hamada in multi-player mode
Finish level 2 as Rikimaru or level 3 as Ayame.
Unlock Jinnai in multi-player mode
Finish level 6 as Tesshu.
Unlock Jonin Blue in multi-player mode
Finish level 4 as Rikimaru or level 8 as Ayame.
