Omaha Beach - seeing soldiers
On Omaha Beach, if you have trouble hearing/seeing the soldiers you need to provide cover for, try looking for the 4 red plumes of smoke. That should get you close enough to see them wave or hear them yelling.

Saving your men in Omaha Beach
When you get out of the water, run quickly to get to an obstacle, then find the Higgins Boat where your lieutenant is located. Saving your men is difficult because you can't see very far. When you get outdoors next to Sturmgeist's train in the mission ON TRACK, look up and to the right. You will now be able to view an UFO flying in the air. Upon closer inspection the unidentified flying object will have Nazi markings on it.
