Arthur is extremely successful with his melee attacks, whereas Lancelot is more effective than Arthur while riding a horse. But neither character's strength seems to affect the outcome of gameplay to that much of a degree.

Upgrade the archery skill first to be able to shoot two arrows at one time. This makes it easier to take out archers and weaker units.

Melee combat is the method of combat which is suited for most of the game. The bow and arrow is an overpowering weapon throughout the game, and with it, you can both inflict quite a bit of damage and accurately hit most anybody, even at the lower end of the rankings scale. Horseback combat is the weaker of the two combat types, due to its clunky handling. The horses are much too slow.

When you are facing in the arenas and you are in the coliseum lure your person into the traps to make them do serious damage to themselves and when the are dead and you're fighting someone elses opponent lure the m in a trap and they die right away.
